On October 23, we hosted a Lunch & Learn at Spring for growth-oriented companies. We partnered with Stephanie Sang, from Granted Consulting, as well as Paul Austin from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) to provide the following information.
Innovation Funding for Growth-Oriented Companies Takeaways:
Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) is a federal and provincial tax credit for companies conducting R&D to advance technology. We shared some recommended ‘do’s and don’t’s to help companies maximize their SR&ED claims.
Granted suggested building a grant strategy: develop goals, research opportunities so you know what qualifies and when to apply, discuss with stakeholders, prepare applications, and follow up.
Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) funds larger clean tech products or services that simultaneously reduce financial and environmental costs while driving better performance. At the end of the project, the technology should then be ready for commercialization.
