If you have filed or are in the process of filing a Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) claim and are wondering how long it would take before you receive your tax credits, below are service standards from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA):
SR&ED Claim Service Standards
- Refundable claims: 120 calendar days from receipt of a complete claim
- Non-refundable claims: 365 calendar days from receipt of a complete claim
- Claimant-requested adjustments to refundable claims: 240 calendar days from receipt of a complete claim
- Claimant-requested adjustments to non-refundable claims: 365 calendar days from receipt of a complete claim
In an effort to remain transparent about their process, the CRA has just released data on their Success Rates and Average Processing Times from April 1, 2013 to September 30, 2013. The data shows that the CRA was well within their standards with 96% of claims being met within these timelines.
