For the second year GE has surveyed executives, from 22 countries covering developed and emerging markets, with the goal of analyzing perceptions around innovation opportunities and challenges.

The Milken Institute, which prepared the Innovation scorecards using the GE Survey data, says “Canada performs quite well on our innovation scorecard, placing among leading nations on six of the seven indicators… Canada’s innovation performance has remained fairly stable over the past five years. Jenkins Report: SR&ED Tax Credits Overhaul

 

Stephen Harper is hinting that changes to the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) program will be announced in a few months. The SR&ED program is a generous 4 billion dollar tax incentive program aimed at encouraging Canadian research and development initiatives. However, the SR&ED program has been under review by the Canadian government’s conservative party. This review culminated with a detailed recommendation report prepared by the Expert Panel led by Thomas Jenkins, Executive Chairman of OpenText Corporation.
